Instant Notifications in Android

UPDATE: As of C15th July 2011, Twitter for Android now does push notifications... now if only Tweetdeck would give us an update with push.

You love Android, but waiting for your notifications is totally naff. Thanks to notifo and push.ly, now you can have those tweets within seconds... thanks to @philgoodism for the tip.

You'll need a Notifo and  push.ly account, and since there's very little android support just yet, follow the steps below:

1. Go to push.ly and create an account.  You will be prompted for your Notifo username, just follow the link to Notifo to sign up for one.
2. Create a Notifo account.
3. Back at push.ly,  enter your Notifo username.
4. Under 'Mobile Twitter Client', select 'Twitter for iPhone'.
5. Choose your notification settings.
6. Add any user you particularly like to the push list.
7. Hit 'DO IT', push.ly is now set up.
8. You'll need an application for your phone... over at Notifo Mobile Apps page, download the Notifo for Android beta. Install the app, and sign in.

9. Visit the Notifo Settings page and customise your Notifo service.
10. Configure your Android device using the Notifo App preferences.

If you've done everything right, your notifications should appear in the notifications bar... your first notification should be one to accept the push.ly subscription. Subscribe, and tweets with your name will go from twitter, via the push.ly service, to your device through the Notifo service and app. Simple, really!!
